The Blacksmiths' Souk in Sfax

In the heart of the medina of Sfax, the Blacksmiths' Souk is one of the few places in Tunisia where you can still see artisans working iron in the traditional way. The sound of hammers on anvils punctuates life in this alley. Agricultural tools, wrought iron grills and other everyday objects are made there. It is a strong sensory experience and a window into a know-how that is being lost.
