History of the place
The Chott el-Gharsa is a salt depression located near the Algerian border. It is the lowest point in Tunisian territory, at -17 meters below sea level. The landscape is of a desolate and strange beauty, a huge expanse of salt cracked under a blazing sun. It is in this setting that several Star Wars filming locations were installed, including the famous 'Mos Espa'. A 4x4 crossing of this chott is a memorable experience, offering mirages and infinite perspectives.
